The model was made in the second half of the 19th century and is a smaller variation of the sculpture “Don Quixote”, made in 1870 by the French sculptor J. Gaultier.
Don Quixote – the main character of the novel “Don Quixote” (1605 – 1615) by the Spanish writer M. Cervantes (1547 – 1616); symbolizes goodness and selflessness.
A figurine of a thin man in knightly armor, with a sword on his left side and an open book in his right hand. The left arm is bent at the elbow and set aside. The support is cone-shaped, profiled.
The Kasli plant has been casting the statuette since the 1890s.
Condition: corresponds to age and grade.
Without restorations. Original. Excellent antique safety. Native factory painting. Noble patina. The “traces of time” are barely visible.
The sword and the place of contact with the figure has a subtle loss of coverage
On the base, below two stamps: “Kasli 1975” and “USSR Quality Mark” confirming the authenticity of the statuette.
